Previously On EUPHORIA:
Nate blackmails both Tyler and Jules so they could play along with the new story of how Maddy received the bruise marks on her neck.
Jules gets super drunk at Daniel’s Halloween party. While swimming in the pool, she even drags Rue in it. After that, Rue confides in Lexi and tells her that she considers herself as a burden. She blames herself for Jules getting extremely drunk and becoming very distant.
Cassie’s mom warns McKay to not pull any “funny business” with Cassie but it seems that ship has sailed. At this point of the series, it’s no secret that neither have used protection. This comes into play very heavily when at the end of the last episode, Cassie looks at an open box of tampons and realizes she is late on her period.
In “Trying To Pee While Depressed” we open with tiny Cassie covered in sparkles and glitter while sitting in a toy pink convertible. We see her looking over at a handsome man surrounded by a few women cracking jokes and wearing a toy crown. The man in question is Cassie’s father. People would treat him differently due to his looks and charm. Of course, Cassie’s mom would get upset for him even entertaining the flirting to begin with. Now lets at least be a little fair, it wasn’t his fault that women acted differently towards him. At the end of the day, he loved Cassie’s mom. He loved his family very much and would always loved them no matter what. Cassie’s dad had dreams of her becoming a professional ice skater. She was grateful for the skates that he bought her because then this would mean she could start shaping her dream. For a little while, Cassie did think in her mind that she could achieve this goal. I mean looking at the scene from start to finish of her on the ice, it’s like she was born on it. A real life ice princess. But like everything else in this life, the lessons were crazy expensive. So her father did the opposite and he stopped encouraging his little girl’s snow bladed dream. When she started to become a teenager, out of nowhere her mom became best friends with her. I mean it’s not like her relationship with her mom was bad as a child. It was basically under the whole “Daddy’s Little Girl” dynamic. Cassie just had more of a relationship with her father. Now besides her body changing and growing into the one we see today, her world grew up too. The men in her family just started acting a LITTLE too friendly towards their niece, granddaughter, great granddaughter and all the other titles as a family member. Cassie’s family was absolutely not the modern day Brady Bunch. Her mother had issues with her alcohol usage. As for her father, he struggled to keep a steady income in order to pay for the bills and put food on the table. Obviously this all stirs into a pot of unstable behavior as the two always fought. You’d think that things would hopefully get better but due to the sound of yelling and a plate breaking, Lexi and Cassie’s home life would only get more chaotic. The night before she had begun her first year of high school, Cassie crawled into Lexi’s bed in order to get a better night sleep and feel a bit safer. In a classic you’re too young to understand move, Cassie’s mom told her that her father was just being irrational. He just was dealing with some extreme jealousy issues. More extreme than hers I might add. As we then see during a scene at the dinner table while their mother is vaguely trying to explain the situation, something is off. As he is nowhere present near the table or inside the house. The question is does his irrational behavior, jealousy, have a reason? It unfortunately does as on her first day of school while getting lunch, a girl passed by Cassie and made a claim that her mother said that Cassie’s mom had cheated on Cassie’s dad. That would explain the big fight they had which then caused him to leave. Cassie ran to the bathroom straight into a stall and started crying over the sudden revelation. At that point in time, Cassie hated her mother for tearing the family apart. Being the biggest hypocrite in terms of her accusing her own husband of doing more than just talking to a woman that found him attractive. When in reality, she entertained a man that wasn’t the one she married. Straight to the point of sleeping with him. Now as much as the finger pointing she deserves, it turns out that Cassie’s father wasn’t the handsome perfect man that he portrayed himself to be. Neither party were perfect and at that point it was simply just not meant to be. Which is normal in this day in age of couples. Some manage to live through to the gray hair, while others pack up and leave while they still can do it themselves without any help. Like any split couple with kids, one parent would have the child throughout the regular school week while the other parent would spend time with that child on the weekends. That’s what had occurred with Lexi and Cassie when it came to their father. At first it was the weekends but then it turned into once every couple of weeks. After that it became a whole entire month without physically seeing him. As examined, he had a drinking problem of his own. However it was more severe than the mother’s because one night while driving home from work, drunk I might add, he got into an accident by colliding with a truck. This caused him to be in the ICU for 23 days. From the way that he looked and the doctors fearing he may never walk again, it seemed likely things would go badly for him. But Cassie hoped and prayed for his full recovery. Now of course with all of this, the doctors gave him medication to help him recover.
Fentanyl: Pain medication
Promethazine: Anti-nausea medication
Liquid Lorazepam: Sleep medication
Imitrex injections: migraine medication
While leaving the hospital, we see the sunlight beam on Cassie as she pushes her dad in his wheel chair towards the exit. Hoping that things would get better for him and his life. Yet when you look at his face, it just tells a different story. A dark one that doesn’t seem to have a key chain flashlight. In secret, Cassie would still talk to her father despite everything that has occurred. As she grew older minute by minute, he just became less and less responsive to where he didn’t say anything to her. Did life get better or worse for her father? Well the answer to that lies in a single night, a week after her 15th birthday. She received a text from a random number at 1 in the morning is claiming to be her father. I mean let’s just open a possibility; maybe things got better for him and he secretly wanted to take Cassie so he and her can start a new life. Yet, that’s only a theory and theories don’t always tend to be true. He texts her and tells her to open the garage door. She does and the man that walks up to her looks like her father but more like a former shell of himself. He tells her that he has always thought about her every single day. While saying that the camera pans to his inner elbow and it looked like a mix of purple and red with what looked to be infected spots. Very similar to what a drug addict’s arm would look like. The pureness of his face has disappeared as he has not shaved and he looks tired. But with a side of his face losing so much life. Cassie asks her father if there was any other way she could contact him. He promises that he’ll reach out when things get better but she can tell right away that they won’t. She starts quietly crying seeing her father put himself through so much pain. All the while fearing for her own safety deep down inside. She tells him she misses him and he shares that same thought as well. But then the situation gets darker as he walks pass Cassie and goes into the house. He claimed that he needed a few things; a couple of fancy plates and some silverware. I don’t want to say the two things he’ll do with them but it’s not like it isn’t obvious. Cassie promises her father with all her heart that she wouldn’t tell a soul. He then leaves off with the valuables he took from his former home while a heartbroken Cassie looks on and closes the garage. She never saw or heard from her father after that; lord can only pray he is still alive. When it came to her love life, she fell in love with every guy she has ever gone on a date with. Smart, completely idiotic, sweet or carrying a dark soul, none of those things mattered to her. She didn’t like the feeling of being alone. But then we are shown a montage of scenes of where her past loves have used Cassie for sexual activities. Every single guy asked for different but also the same things. Getting naked in front of the camera. Wanting to make a sex tape to filming her while using the bathroom. Begging her for oral sex. Cassie knew that sometimes it was okay to say no but in the end, the guy would always get what he wanted. Despite it not always making her feel good. Cassie knew ahead that after she broke up with those certain types of guys, they would take the sleazy route and share the photos and videos without the risk of getting arrested for distributing child pornography. The first time she saw this, it scared her into a panic attack and she wanted to kill herself by swallowing a bottle of Tylenol. But she didn’t do that. She tried to look at the bright side, maybe when she is out of college and in the position to work a 9 to 5, %99 percent of the population could have leaked nudes by then and hers wouldn’t be any different yet one can only hope for something like that to occur. Of course things got a little better with her love life because she met McKay. She obviously fell in love with him but the not so crazy part is that he genuinely fell in love with her. While things weren’t perfect between them, he loved her and her flaws. She’s made mistakes here and there but she always had the chance to come back from them. Except for this recent one. Cassie pulls out a pregnancy test in her bathroom and uses it. Within minutes the results are in and she’s pregnant.
The camera cuts to Rue cocooned up in her blankets while watching Love Island on her laptop. She’s probably still reeling from the commotion that happened at Daniel’s party which isn’t unlikely. Voiceover Rue explains that people are always walking up to her and telling her about great TV shows. But like some people these days, while recommending TV shows that are must watch, Rue doesn’t want that. She doesn’t want novelized based shows or anything that may feel like a long house chore. She adores the concept of reality TV because truthfully at times it’s both funny and over dramatic. For Rue though, she’s able to focus on it better than anything else. It’s your typical pure, effortless entertainment. The party got to Rue badly as she admits that she has been watching 22 straight hours of Love Island over a two day tuck in her bed. Wondering if she has eaten and used the bathroom is obviously on the table but to Rue, doing this long binge isn’t depressing like other people would assume it is. But doing this binge however, helps her to measure if she is depressed or not. Her binge session is starting to feel like work; so without a doubt she is 100000000000000% depressed. Her depression is bad to the point of her admitting in the last 24 hours she has not headed to the bathroom to pee. We then see her insides and the effect of not peeing for that long is starting to fall on her a bit.
We are then taken outside of Cassie’s stomach as she asks Lexi if she looks any different. Knowing internally about the baby she is now starting to carry. Lexi tells her she looks the same and out of fear that people will somehow notice her pregnancy, Cassie says she doesn’t want to go to school. Lexi, who is holding one of Cassie’s recent mistakes in her head suggests that Daniel is behind her reasoning of not wanting to go to school. Cassie angrily assures her that his trash can self is the last thing on her mind right now and she tries to stand up for herself and say she hasn’t spoken about him. Lexi who is fed up tells her that it’s annoying most of the time when Cassie brings up her looks. Thinking there is something horribly wrong with it. Lexi marks that her sister’s words are always tiring and she just needs to focus on something else. I mean normally you could agree but due to what you know as a viewer, you can somewhat feel bad for Cassie. Also maybe think that Lexi was a bit too harsh on her own sibling but that’s just my opinion.
Miss Rue decides to sit up and try to get off of her bed in order to go and use the bathroom. But even then;
“The thought of having to stand up, exert 172 muscles each step for 35 feet, just so I can sit on cold porcelain and piss out toxins over and over again for the rest of my life makes the whole concept of living feel like one long, sadistic joke.”
What Rue describes as the worst part of depression however, its that regardless of being aware that you are depressed, you can’t just turn yourself around on your own. You can’t stop yourself from getting worse. It’s sad but it’s not exaggerated because it’s a bunch of facts hat Rue is spitting right now. However, although we see Rue’s time under Mercury being in retrograde, she wasn’t the only one having a system feeling out of wack.
We see Jules under her sheets as well. Claiming that she is ill so she doesn’t head to school. However, we as the audience quickly learn that it’s been longer than a day of not going to school. After the Halloween party at Daniel’s house, Jules didn’t pop into school for the full 5 days of it. Seeing as how she was being Nate’s own little “prisoner” in terms of keeping her nude photos by his side while in return for him, becoming a false witness. Rue sent her at least 50 texts, worrying about her girlfriend’s absence but through her stress, she didn’t respond. Voiceover Rue believes that something had happened to her beloved Jules and of course all signs point to walking garbage Nate Jacobs.
In true detective style, we are then taken back to the police department on the day of Halloween but around 8:41 AM. Tyler was booked for assault and while heading to a jail cell, Rue dressed up in detective gear looks on while smoking a cigarette. Rue is a smart girl even though she doesn’t like to admit it at times. She knew from top to bottom that the numbers were off in terms of the situation as a whole. Her and Lexi, both dressed up in detective outfits and gear were ready to search for the truth. Well mostly Rue but the fact still remains; Nate is ruining Jules’ life. The scene then shifts it’s location to East Highland where over the PA system, the announcer goes into detail of how the student body and faculty owe Nate an apology due to the false (in reality true) accusations due to the carnival incident. As Rue stares off at Nate in anger, Lexi questions as to why Jules would lie in order to help Nate. Rue hasn’t asked Jules about it and she doesn’t even know on her own. She then has a direct stare off with Nate as he turns his head and meets Rue’s daggers; her eyes. She wants him to look because she knows he has harmed someone Rue loves very much. This whole thing is certainly beyond logic and there could be many sides to it. Wouldn’t be the first time a show has done that. In the bathroom while smoking a cigarette, Rue starts her speculating. Jules is in love with Nate. Which sounds even crazier coming from her thoughts and my thoughts but then Rue begins to explain. The night of the carnival, Jules had plans to meet with a guy named “Tyler” who she met online. A jock from another high school, a son from a conservative family, and the two online loves were texting each other for weeks on end. But let me rephrase that, both of them were sexting and texting for weeks on end. Although “Tyler” sent her a dick pic, Jules never saw his face; so she was dealing with a catfish. She headed over to the lake while Rue went home with Gia. An hour or so later, Jules is at Rue’s house tapping at her window. She looked hurt and broken over what she had discovered but the only thing she said to Rue was he just didn’t look like his pictures. Nate used Tyler’s identity in order to pull this off but let’s continue to break down the information. Maddy is 17 years old and Tyler is 22 years old and they fornicated in a statutory manner at McKay’s party. Everybody from the school saw them do this. Especially Nate since he and Maddy weren’t together at the time. A lighter offense than statutory in this case is assault. Rue at this point is way in over her head about the situation but it’s coming from a good place. Rue calls Lexi in the early morning and pieces together as to why Nate would single out Jules. He could actually be cisgender and in past tense, Nate had sexual feelings for Jules. As we all are aware, Jules is predominantly heterosexual and apparently Nate was into that kind of attitude. So under the online profile of Tyler, he became the perfect guy for Jules. Being more than just a potential hookup for her. It was easy for him to get to her seeing as how she is known to be sensitive, extremely forgiving and is quite the most purest person on the earth in Rue’s eyes. She fell for Nate in his Tyler persona. That’s exactly why she testified for him. I mean that’s all well and dandy but now we are taken back to reality after Lexi hangs up the phone. At this point its really not that big of a revelation that Rue has put herself in a manic state of mind due to her depression. It’s so much to the point of where she thinks she’s bipolar. She googles if she can tell if she is bipolar and she’s left with a dead end.
Meanwhile at Cassie and Lexi’s house, she is sitting at the dinner table with BB, Kat, Maddy and Lexi and she is requesting their advice on two situations. The first one is concerning the night of Daniel’s Halloween party but instead of being introduced on what happened to Cassie and Daniel, we are shown what happened to Kat and Daniel after she was seen by him reapplying her lipstick and him liking what he sees. They then proceed to have a quickie upstairs. They then make small talk; Kat reveals that when they were younger, she thought she would lose her virginity to Daniel. Why is this? It’s because he’s the same Daniel from the 3rd episode “Made You Look”. He’s Kat’s former love; I mean they dated for 5 months in the sixth grade but he still meant a lot to her. But it’s a good thing he broke up with her because knowing what we know now as an audience, it was better for Kat in the long run in some ways. He then tells her that he simply has no memory of that relationship and of course she is understandably heart broken on the inside. We are then taken back to present time and after explaining her situation, Maddy sums up Cassie’s first issue. Cassie wants to confront McKay and tell him about her makeout sessions with Daniel at the carnival and on Halloween. I’m a firm believer on telling the truth but even after what had happened with McKay in the last episode, I just don’t think now is the right time for her to talk of her smooching mistakes. She thinks that McKay will handle that news like an adult but as mostly everyone else at the table collectively agrees, that’s a bad idea in itself. Cassie emphasizes that she wants to spend a forever with McKay but she doesn’t want this secret to be over her head. Kat then comments and says that McKay and Cassie’s relationship won’t last as long as Cassie would hope. Maddy doesn’t like her friend’s attitude towards the situation. She has noticed Kat’s change in not only her looks but her personality and she doesn’t like the new Kat. But of course, Kat calls Maddy out due to always having to hear about her abusive relationship with Nate and how she is an overall superficial girl with less thoughts in her mind. Maddy straight up just says that she misses the old Kat. The one who would be genuinely supportive and not a mean person. This causes Kat to leave due to embarrassment and she cries while walking home. Back in Cassie and Lexi’s room, Lexi tries to get Cassie to talk about the second thing she needed advice on but she isn’t budging. Cassie then asks for her opinion on the situation and although she first says that she’s never been in Cassie’s situation, she then tells her that she wouldn’t say anything about it at all. At least for the first problem. Cassie then asks her for the aftermath if she doesn’t say anything and it eats her up. Lexi then tells her that she doesn’t have a choice at that point. Cassie HAS to tell McKay the truth.
A door knob turns and it is shown we are back in Rue’s room with the entrance of Gia. She is asking her older sibling if she is feeling alright and Rue lies and says she has the flu. Gia then offers to get her something from the kitchen but Rue declines. Gia just wants to make sure that her sister is okay but Rue isn’t having any of it. She tells Gia that she just doesn’t want to be bothered and Gia walks out and slams the door behind her. Rue then stares at her screen for a moment and resumes watching Love Island.
At the Jacobs house, Cal is seen sitting on Nate’s bed waiting for Nate to return home. Which he of course does. Cal then explains to Nate that every single person on this earth has made mistakes in their lifetime. I’ve made some of my own over the past couple of years but that’s only an example. Sometimes it’s out of ignorance and selfishness. Most of the time the main individual isn’t the only one that lands in the crossfire. Cal explains that over time he has tried to become a better person and stop continuing to cause other people a lot of damage. Nate on the other hand has not acknowledged his damned soul yet and he’s worried. He feels as though the charges against Nate should still be on him and he should’ve faced the consequences. But yet Nate still managed to find a way out. He however likes the fact that his son got out of the situation with out any direct legal lesson but then like any father would, he hopes Nate didn’t walk away with the wrong lesson. But that’s where Cal’s fear comes alive, because the “lesson” Nate learned was that to stay dominant, you have to get your hands dirty. You can just tell by the camera shot of Nate looking directly into his father’s eyes, his soul has turned a whole other dimension not even the devil himself would step in the ring with.
Back in Rue’s internal system, we see one of her organs start to become infected as she is still binge watching Love Island. She is realizing that she is in a lot of pain due to STILL not using the bathroom for so long it’s making her miss being a drug addict. We are then taken to a flashback of when Rue was still using drugs. This time she is trying to pee while still really high and her brain isn’t cooperating in order to let her pee. We then are shown a few individuals in which have died while trying to use the bathroom while on drugs. Judy Garland, Lenny Bruce and the king of rock and roll himself, Elvis Presley. Rue then takes us on another flashback trip on the last time she has walked out of her room as she tearfully starts to remember. Her past self is seen getting some cereal and an unidentified man joke’s about Rue’s extreme sleeping habits. Voiceover Rue introduces all of us to a man named Rick: her mother Leslie’s new boyfriend. From first glance, honestly to be fair, he’s around a cheesy 5 or 6. Rick describes himself as romantic at heart, adventurous, a lover of traveling, enjoys the outdoors, loves great art, great movies and amazing wine. To add to the cheesiness factor, he considers himself to be forever young. She is hoping that the void of her late husband would be filled by Rick. But of course like any child, Rue just didn’t like the idea of Rick at all. He tries to make small talk with Rue and starts talking about how Leslie was telling him about Rue’s relationship with Jules or as he calls it, Rue having a new best friend. Rue slightly doesn’t like his joke and tells him to go fuck himself. Leslie accuses Rue of being a smart ass and tells her to apologize to Rick immediately. In Rue’s inner retrospect she did realize she was being a bit of a bitch. But then instead, she apologizes but adds on that her mother can do SO MUCH BETTER and it makes her mad that he is sitting in the same chair her father once sat at all those years ago. I mean at least she spoke about her thoughts as a grown woman. Rue then receives a text from Jules. She apologizes and says she was “sick with the flu” all week. The same flu that is covering Rue’s head as well. Rue texts her back that she was just worried about her and she hopes all is well. Jules then tells Rue that she will be heading out of town for the weekend to meet up with an old friend. We then see Rue back in bed under the covers and sweating like crazy.
” If I am bipolar, I sure as shit prefer mania over depression.”
We then see her appear at Fezco’s house speaking to him about her current state of mind due to Jules’ situation. She compares herself to Morgan Freeman’s roles in 90’s movies as a cop. How he is calmly putting the pieces together with whatever case he receives. While everyone else around him is making no sense and is swimming in the deep end. People doubt his abilities of solving the case but as we have exhibited from Rue, he’s super hyper-focused. He looks too much into the situation and he knows there’s a deeper meaning to it. So does Rue now that she understand the Jules VS Nate situation. Moving forward though she wants to do something about it. Rue asks Fezco for a gun. Obviously worried about Rue’s safety once more, Fezco asks her why she is asking for a weapon from him. She tells him with a straight face that she wants him to use one to threaten Nate with it. This obviously doesn’t set well with him because in reality that was a crazy idea and at this point in time the dark circles around Rue’s eyes might not even be smudged eyeliner anymore due to the amount of stress she has given herself. Rue only knows that Nate has messed with both her and Jules and she just wants his antics to finally end. Fezco’s response is cut short as Mouse texts him again. That same Mouse that almost made Rue have another overdose with the drug he gave her. After three times of begging Rue to stay put in the room where his grandma is in a vegetable state, she quietly agrees as he slams the door shut on her. Within a few minutes of looking around and then looking at the women’s half naked body, Rue’s attention is pulled somewhere else. The three pill bottles near the woman’s bed start to “talk” to Rue. Trying to convince her to ingest all of them into her stomach. It’s quite nail biting because there are two ways this could end. She could run up to the bottles, steal a few pills and then run out of the house. The second is just exiting the room and sneaking out; making sure mouse and his associate doesn’t see her. Both sound crazy dangerous but she chooses option B in the way of sneaking out of the house with only Fezco knowing of her departure while Mouse tries to sell more drugs for Fezco to sell on his own. We then see Rue count the number of steps she has walked. Voiceover Rue then begins to explain another fact about depression.
“The other thing about depression is it kind of collapses time. Suddenly, you find your whole days blending together to create one endless and suffocating loop. So you find yourself trying to remember the things that made you happy. But slowly, your brain begins to erase every memory that ever brought you joy. And eventually, all you can think about is how life has always been this way. And will only continue to be this way.”
For that fact, it can never be more true especially in today’s society. With the pressures of bullying in school and the workplace. Having the urge to alter yourself for social media. The desire to be hugely successful in all aspects of your life. It can be quite exhausting at times.
We then are taken to the train station as Jules heads back to New York to meet with an old friend. With the less use of her makeup, we can clearly see on her face that the situation with Nate and her confused feelings for Rue are kicking in heavier than any dosage of a drug. Only this time, she’s feeling so much of it. Hours later we see her reunite with an old friend from the last high school she went to before transferring to East Highland. While in the passenger’s seat enjoying the car ride, Jules vaguely explains her new life in the suburbs and her relationship with Rue. There is a lot of room to grow with it but for now as exhibited in past episodes, she feels trapped due to being Rue’s new “drug”. Also she just brushes off her situation with Nate and tries to not think about it.
“Feel the morning on my face. Ain’t a pill that I didn’t take. Just alive tryin’, ‘Cause it’s been a long day. ‘Cause I’m asleep when I R.I.P…
Flex, flex Relax Camera flash And don’t forget your hashtag Rucksack White stacks You’re a dead man You better rid of that gat You gonna run game They don’t never run you, uh When they bitchin’ on your name You say “F*** you too, too It’s a fuckin’ cold case Give detective no clues, clues ‘Cause I’m Indiana J When I’m trippin’ on the juice.”
They finally make it to their location; an apartment building. There Jules is introduced to a girl named Anna. They there isn’t much of a plan at that point for the three of them except of a night on the town. But first of course, Anna wants someone as a practice face to put makeup on and eventually since Jules’ friend doesn’t always want to do it, she picks at Jules’ face which Jules agrees to. We are then placed in a calmer setting as Jules lays on the floor while Anna puts makeup on her. Jules recalls gaining her very first pair of heels from Sears. She describes her first experience of wearing them as if she collected herbs in order to feel at peace with her true gender. Gradually what we didn’t fully see when Jules’ backstory was first introduced, it didn’t show us the different stages she went through when it came to her transition. But she lightly fills in the gaps with her transition started with shoes, then clothes, makeup and finally hormones. All the ingredients needed in order for Jules to match her true gender and be more accepting of herself. She leveled herself up but as we saw in the first episode with the hormone injection, it would seem as though she still has a long way to go but it’s fine. At the end of the day she has a lifetime to do just that. Anna then asks her about her relationship towards men; if she dates guys. Jules describes her “relationship” towards men as something on the lines of conquering. If she can conquer men, then she can be able to conquer femininity. She doesn’t give an automatic reason as to why she needs a man to make her feel more like a girl. Cause in reality, that’s all her. She shouldn’t need a man to make her feel like more of her true gender. At the end of it all though, “queerness is infinite”.
We are then taken to McKay and Cassie with what appears to be a tense vibe between them. Cassie finally tells McKay out of nowhere that she is pregnant. She admits that she had fears on what McKay would fully say about the pregnancy and it turns out in her own right, she had to be. He asked her if she was planning to go to full term with the baby and then things start getting more anxious as Cassie says that she loves McKay meaning she wants to keep the child. But McKay pulls her back into reality and reminds her that he doesn’t have the time to be there for the baby. Dealing with school and his football career but at this point when it comes to Cassie, it seems she has no significant plans for her future. She strongly thinks in that moment; having a kid is the best thing that could happen to me. That isn’t always true because if Cassie goes to full term, she could easily feel overwhelmed by the idea of being a teen mom. There is more to life than raising a child. McKay tells it like it is; Cassie might not even want to be pregnant right now. Life isn’t a movie or a storybook fairy tale. It’s warm, cold, hard, easy, it just depends on what road you take. Cassie then lies and says she didn’t necessarily wanted to have the baby. She just wanted to picture a reality with it. McKay tells her that she’ll be the best mom ever one day but that just can’t happen right now. At least he didn’t rule out on having kids in the future.
Kat is in her bedroom talking to the mysterious guy who wanted a 30 minute cam session with her. He finally gets it but something feels off putting about the whole situation. First off, the guy’s screen is completely black and he has a voice distorter on so Kat couldn’t tell who it was. This could be someone from her past or a potential stalker what has followed her on Pornhub and done some digging. She starts to undress as he probably requested beforehand. Kat understandably is nervous because this seems very darker than the cam sessions she is used to. Due to the guy’s request, she undresses until she is completely naked. This MASTERSADE99 guy at this point is in full on creep territory as he slowly says that Kat looks beautiful naked. She then rushes over to her laptop and slams it shut.
At Fezco’s drug corner, Nate pulls up with Maddy in tow expecting to buy some rolling papers, sparkling water and other things. Then Fezco decides to take Rue’s matter in his own hands without a gun in tow. He makes it aware that he doesn’t know the specifics with Nate’s problem with Rue and Jules. Nate asks the same questions everyone has asked Fezco. Is Rue still getting drugs from Fezco? Is he in a secret relationship with her? Answers are no, since she is clean and that’s non-blood family love that he has for her. He’s just trying to make it clear that Nate’s evil little boy games need to stop. Of course then, Nate just doesn’t take Fezco’s words seriously when the man does own guns from his grandma. Nate calls out Fezco as he sees him; Fezco isn’t as smart as they come. He dropped out of school at the age of 20 and now he’s the towns local drug dealer. Nate laughs at the idea of Fezco doing anything horrible to him. But Fezco makes it clear to Nate; if he won’t stop, he’s as good as dead. Nate then leaves after throwing his payment at the register and walks off.
We are now brought back to Rue as her non-pee break starts to kick in. An adult bladder can hold at least two cups of urine but here is what your brain shouldn’t be doing; telling your bladder to not release anything. Rue’s depression is getting worse by the minute and it’s definitely affecting her on the inside. Due to her depression, her brain isn’t as active and her bladder quickly starts to fill. All the toxins that Rue’s kidneys pushed into her bladder, they begin to reverse back into her kidneys causing a painful infection. Simultaneously we are taken to Jules’ first night out back in the city. She seems to be having all sorts of fun in a big time night club. Dancing the night away and at this point, fully under the influence. Within all the madness of the scenery, it begins to grow more quiet as Jules gets closer to Anna. She tells her that she is a reminder of Rue. At this point she is really high and then she begins to kiss Anna. Back at Rue’s house we see her start to enter the hallway. At this point, you wish you could just take her pain away but life isn’t like that. Rue tries to take baby steps to the bathroom but she ends up slowly sliding to the ground still breathing from the pain. Jules is high and having the time of her life but that is until her demons come out to play. An eye glittered, black eye lined Nate makes his way towards Jules. She tries to run off within the crowd but he eventually catches up to her. He claims that Jules had texted him before leaving for the night. At this point her drug trip is a horrible an emotional trip. She’s cornered by him and she says that she’s scared of him. Nate then tells her that he is sorry for mentally hurting her and he reveals himself to be Tyler but Jules isn’t having it as she grabs Nate by the neck and pins him to the wall of lights. She tells him straight up that she wants to be the one that kills him and strangely turned on, he tells her that he belongs to her. She rough kisses him but as the strobe lights flash we can clearly see that she’s rough kissing Anna. Then Anna goes down on Jules but then she switches in between from Nate to herself. Jules is confused in her drugged state of mind but one thing remains clear; she wishes the entire world knew just how horrible Nate Jacobs was. We are then taken back in a trippy sequence to the apartment in which the sex scene switches from Anna & Jules having sex and then to Rue & Jules having sex. At this point the scene is out of the solar system due to the drug trip that Jules is on. Then Rue as Anna tells her straight to the point that their relationship might not end well. She kisses Jules’ forehead and Jules nuzzles her face into Rue’s neck.
Nate is home and sitting on his bed. He’s using his phone and he ends up calling the police to report a crime. Is he finally confessing to his sins? We see a police car heading to a destination but at that moment it’s unknown. Cassie is heading down the stairs and she walks over and nudges her mother in order to wake her. She tells her point blank that she needs her help and Cassie’s mom stands up from the couch in order to comfort her as she starts crying. She assures her that whatever it is, everything will be okay and she loves her no matter what. Jules is laying awake in bed as she reminisces about the drug filled night. Now back to the police car; the destination it headed to was Fezco’s house. They start banging on his door in order to enter the home. He is in the bathroom with his brother Ashtray trying to flush down the products that Mouse gave him to sell. For ratting him out, Fezco will definitely keep his promise on killing Nate. At least if Mouse doesn’t get to the both of them first.
Now crouched in the fetal position on the floor, Rue is laying there with so much shortness of breath. But hope arrives in the form of her mom as she hears Rue’s breathing from the hallway and checks to find her on the floor. She walks over to Rue and begins to help her get up. She draws Rue a bath while then taking her sheets to wash them. Assuring Rue that she’ll be okay soon enough. She then tells her mom that she might need to go back on medication. This worries her because she knows if that happens, Rue will be right back to destroying herself. Leslie explains to Rue that although she is at a low point with her emotions, she didn’t grab a bottle of pills. Meaning she is still on the path of staying clean.
“I had a therapist once who said that these states will wax and wane. Which gave my mother relief, because it meant that in the bad times, there would be good times. But it also gave her anxiety because it meant that in the good times, there would be bad times. It always confused me, because I didn’t really know what it meant. But it did sound a lot calmer than the way I would describe it. Granted, I didn’t realize until later what waxing and waning implied. That these feelings were fixed and constant and would never end for the rest of my life.”
It’s morning where Jules is and she looks broken to bits after her drug anxious fuel type of night. She seems lost and empty while looking over her former home. She appear to be texting someone and it turns out to be Rue. She simply says that she has missed her so much and Rue doesn’t know how much of it is hitting her. Jules crouches down and silently cries while the screen cuts to black. At this point, lets all just hope both girls and their relationship make it to the first episode of season 2.
